I believe that one of the best ways to ascertain the performance and integrity of a business, is to read the testimonials and ratings given by clients. Also to let you know that this is a company you can contact with confidence in the knowledge that your elderly or infirm loved one will be treated with the utmost care and respect during the process of initiating contact, to ascertaining needs, to choosing all the bathroom needs for a remodel you may require.

I live in the United States, and my 97 year old mother lives alone with daily visits from a dear friend/companion of many years. Mother has a bathroom but the time is coming for her to change her living arrangements to "downstairs only". Fortunately there was a small bathroom shower arrangement already in place in a small cold annexe with a laundry room adjacent.

I found Independent living on line and contacted them to send a brochure to my mother's friend. It arrived without delay and was followed up by a phone call. At this time a well meaning neighbour hearing about the change I wanted decided to go ahead and organize her own plumber. I cannot tell you how many phone calls and emails went into trying to get this underway with this individual and others he would use for this project all to no avail.

The best thing I ever did was firing this individual and getting back to Andrew at "the firm". I told him that the year was passing quickly and I wanted to have a walk in bath available to mother before the fall. My emails were answered within twenty four hours, and the work was completed in about six weeks or less from beginning to finish. The work itself took about three to four days.

We discussed what needed to be done, also mother's fragile mental/emotional state. I had an estimate immediately but was told that we could make changes at any time. The company is most flexible. I got the impression that they just cared about what you wanted. Prices were compared for certain options, and offered with the pros and cons.

Andrew sent in a really charming man Jim, who was kindness itself, and who mother and her dear friend really liked immediately, and who they felt very safe and comfortable with regarding making the correct decisions and seeing the job through.

Together we all worked on Mother's needs and the choices available. Mother ended up with a smaller than usual walk in bath, with optional shower, with shower curtain, heated towel rail, new electric heater in the laundry room, a leak mended in the floor by the washing machine, machine reconnected, the floor in both the bathroom and laundry room redone, and a pocket door installed.

Photos were sent to me online, and mother and her friend told me it is really beautiful.

My daughter will be going to see her grandmother next month and I will encourage her to use the bathroom so that mother gains confidence in trying her new toy! She has not used it yet but it is ready which is the important thing!

The shower and all the fittings that needed to be moved disappeared during the three days that the builder came in to do the work. Again a very nice person. Jim came back with the contract and to take payment. Mother did not need to worry about checks going astray. The house and garden were left in perfect order.

This was a fabulous experience and I cannot thank this company enough for making what seemed so hard for others, so easy. The price was also very "right".
